Curtin Law, LLC concentrates in the area of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders. Qualified Domestic Relations Orders are state orders that create or recognize the right of an alternate payee (a spouse, former spouse, child or other dependent) to receive part or all of a benefit payable to a participant under a pension, profit sharing or other retirement benefit plan to satisfy child support, alimony, maintenance or other marital property obligations.
Curtin Law, LLC works with attorneys or directly with clients to prepare Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO), Qualified Illinois Domestic Relations Orders (QILDRO), Court Orders Acceptable for Processing (COAP), or other necessary Orders.
In addition, Curtin Law, LLC provides language for settlement agreements or judgments when a QDRO, COAP, or other Order is required to assign benefits under a plan.
Curtin Law, LLC also reviews and amends Domestic Relations Orders (DROs), COAPs, and Orders written by others to achieve approval and qualification by the plan administrator.
QDROs, QILDROs, COAPs, and Orders are provided and reviewed for all types of plans including traditional defined benefit and contribution pension plans, money purchase pension plans, profit sharing plans, savings plans, 401(k) plans, stock bonus plans, employee stock ownership plans, federal, local and state government plans, and military, public school, and railroad retirement plans.
